One learning objective that I can discuss is “Effective Communication.” Effective communication is a crucial skill that encompasses various components such as active listening, clear articulation, empathy, and adaptability in different contexts. I’ll focus on the component of active listening. I started developing my active listening skills during my school years, but I’ve continued to refine them throughout my life. I learned active listening in various settings, including the classroom, family gatherings, social events, and professional environments. I have developed in this arena by continuing to develop my active listening skills by combining practice, feedback, education, and self-awareness. It’s an ongoing journey, as effective communication, including active listening, is a skill that can always be refined and improved.

What we done so far has helped me do my writing process because it has gave my new ideas on how I will write my thesis and how the format of my essay will be. I might apply this information I got by using it on the articles I have to read for my essay. What has been confusing is how much information I should put in my essay and I would like to spend more time on finding the evidence for my essay. If the clarification/additional focus does not occur during class time I will acquire the knowledge by finding information online that will help me like youtube videos and photos.

To start off, one of the articles I am going to use for my research is an article called “GLUTTONY AND SLOTH? CALORIES,
LABOR MARKET ACTIVITY AND THE RISE OF OBESITY” . The information that I wrote from the article talks about how there has been an increase in calories from food eaten out at restaurants, fast food, soft drinks and confectionery. And it also talks about how most of the world’s population live in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight. And in my opinion I believe that the annotations that I have wrote will have helped me to write my essay because it gives me a better idea on what I need to focus on in my essay and it also gives me more ideas I would want to put in my essay. What I also need to do to process this article is read more of it and also compare information from different paragraphs of the article to see which is the best for me to use in my essay.

The main purpose of this CNF in relation to journalism is to recognize and critically analyze the role of the media in contemporary society. It can aim to examine how the media influences public opinion, shapes cultural discourses, and affects individual lives. It may also seek to shed light on the challenges and ethical dilemmas faced by journalists and news organizations in the digital age. Moreover, it can have a stimulating element, encouraging readers to critically reflect on their media habits and actively participate in media literacy with the ultimate goal of developing the power of media and a deeper understanding of its impact on society. Specifically, this CNF on media aims to inform and critically examine the role of media in rhetorical situations, with ongoing discussion about how media impacts and challenges an atmosphere where audiences range from regular nonprofessional people to interested journalists.
